Where Your Vote Goes

Each MEZO Gauge receives a share of the non-staking gauge emissions equal to its share of the veMEZO votes cast on MEZO Gauges that epoch.

If 1,000,000 veMEZO votes across all MEZO Gauges and 300,000 of them go to one gauge, that gauge takes 30% of the epoch’s directable MEZO. The rest of this page uses USDC/MUSD as an example. The same split applies to every MEZO Gauge.

Curve USDT/USDC/MUSD and Uniswap USDC/MUSD are incentivised through Merkl, the same mechanism Mezo already uses for these pools, now each with a MEZO Gauge.

  1. Epoch N closes. Votes are tallied and each gauge’s MEZO allocation is fixed.
  2. The allocation is posted to Merkl as a campaign on the destination pool.
  3. LPs accrue a claim proportional to their share of the pool over the campaign period. Claims occur on Merkl.

Rewards arrive as veMEZO locked for 3 months, not as liquid MEZO. This matches how these pools are incentivised today, but now voters decide how much emissions each pool gets.

See Claiming Incentives for the LP-side walkthrough.

Aerodrome gauges work differently, because Aerodrome is itself a ve(3,3) system with its own weekly vote. Take USDC/MUSD as an example. MEZO does not go to Aerodrome LPs directly. It is deposited as a voting incentive on the Aerodrome gauge for that pool, paid to the veAERO holders who vote for it.

Those veAERO votes are what direct AERO emissions to the pool. The MEZO buys AERO emissions for the pool, and it is the AERO that reaches LPs. The same path applies to MEZO/MUSD on Aerodrome.

Mechanically, the MEZO is claimed on Mezo, bridged to Base, and deposited on the Aerodrome gauge by an allocator contract. This runs automatically each epoch.

Aerodrome’s vote is a week ahead of the incentive it responds to, which puts a gap between your vote and the liquidity it buys:

EpochWhat happens
NYou vote on Mezo. Epoch closes and the allocation is fixed.
N+1MEZO is deposited as a voting incentive on the Aerodrome gauge. veAERO holders vote on it during this epoch.
N+2AERO emissions flow to the pool, and LPs earn them.

Votes cast in epoch N produce AERO emissions in epoch N+2. This is a property of how Aerodrome sequences its own epochs as opposed to a delay Mezo adds.

Directing emissions is influence, not yield. The MEZO you send to a destination pool goes to the people on that pool — Merkl claimants on Curve and Uniswap, veAERO voters on Aerodrome. It does not come back to you as a MEZO Gauge voter.

What you earn directly as a voter is your share of incentives posted on the MEZO Gauge itself, in proportion to your share of that gauge’s votes.

To capture the emissions themselves, you have to be on both sides of the loop. On Aerodrome, using USDC/MUSD as an example:

  1. LP into the pool on Aerodrome and stake in its gauge.
  2. Vote for that pool’s MEZO Gauge on Mezo, with veMEZO.
  3. Vote for the corresponding Aerodrome gauge on Base, with veAERO.
  4. Collect AERO for the LP position, and the MEZO voting incentive for the veAERO vote.

On Curve and Uniswap the loop is shorter: LP into the pool, vote for its MEZO Gauge, and claim the campaign on Merkl as an LP.
