MEZO Gauges Overview
MEZO Gauges let veMEZO holders vote to direct MEZO emissions to liquidity pools outside Mezo, on Curve and Uniswap (Ethereum) and Aerodrome (Base).
Until now, veMEZO had one job: boosting a veBTC position. Now, veMEZO carries voting power of its own, over a real slice of weekly emissions.
Why pay LPs on other chains?
Section titled “Why pay LPs on other chains?”MUSD is only useful if it is liquid where people already are. Thin pools off Mezo mean MUSD cannot be entered or exited at size, and that caps how large the MUSD debt book can safely grow.
How MEZO Gauges differ from other gauges
Section titled “How MEZO Gauges differ from other gauges”Mezo operates three kinds of gauges:
| Staking gauge | veBTC boost gauge | MEZO Gauge | |
|---|---|---|---|
| You vote with | veBTC | veMEZO | veMEZO |
| Emissions land | On Mezo chain, to stakers | N/A | Off Mezo chain, as pool incentives |
| Voter earns | Trading fees + incentives | Posted incentives | Incentives posted on the gauge |
Which pools are eligible
Section titled “Which pools are eligible”Four gauges are live at launch:
| Gauge | Pool | Venue | Chain | Distribution |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Uniswap USDC/MUSD | USDC/MUSD | Uniswap | Ethereum | Merkl |
| Curve USDT/USDC/MUSD | USDT/USDC/MUSD | Curve | Ethereum | Merkl |
| Aerodrome USDC/MUSD | USDC/MUSD | Aerodrome | Base | Aerodrome voting incentives |
| Aerodrome MEZO/MUSD | MEZO/MUSD | Aerodrome | Base | Aerodrome voting incentives |
How the list changes
Section titled “How the list changes”The set of eligible pools is an on-chain allowlist held by the remote gauge registry and controlled by governance. Pools are added or removed by governance action, not by anyone permissionlessly creating a gauge. When the list changes, it changes here and on the Vote page.
How much MEZO is directable
Section titled “How much MEZO is directable”MEZO Gauges are funded from the non-staking gauge branch of emissions, currently 8% of weekly emission rewards. veBTC holders set that share through the splitter. See Emissions Schedule for more info.
The loop, end to end
Section titled “The loop, end to end”- You vote. Direct veMEZO voting power across the available MEZO Gauges during the epoch.
- The epoch closes Thursday 00:00 UTC and votes are tallied. Each gauge’s share of MEZO is set by its share of veMEZO votes.
- MEZO leaves Mezo. Each gauge’s allocation is claimed and routed to its destination.
- It lands as an incentive on the destination pool for LPers to claim on Merkl or voters on Aerodrome.
The exact timing and form differ by venue. See Where Your Vote Goes.
What a voter earns
Section titled “What a voter earns”You earn a share of the incentives posted on the gauge you vote for, sized by your share of that gauge’s veMEZO votes. Boost gauge incentives work the same way. Anyone can post incentives on a MEZO Gauge, and voters can claim them.
The MEZO itself travels on. It lands on the destination pool and pays that pool’s LPs or voters, according to the protocol. Your vote decides where MUSD liquidity gets paid for. The incentives sitting on the gauge are what pay you.
To collect the directed MEZO too, work both sides: LP into the destination pool, and on Aerodrome, vote for the matching gauge on Base. Where Your Vote Goes walks through that loop.
